NOT a real all-star season, alas. While its big sister Queer Bar is offering up a superstar line-up of talent for their 3 day Queer Pride Festival for Seattle’s LGBTQ+ celebrations the weekend of June 23rd through June 25th, that includes headliners Orville Peck, Pabllo Vittar, Peaches, CHARO, and Trixie Mattel, up the street at THE CUFF COMPLEX, things are a little dirtier. Kahanna is a yachter made of plastic whose every look was Vegas showgirl. Jaymes was lucky and showed a little something more, although the taste and fits are questionable at times and the character doesn't leave much territory to cover. She's always rehearsing for a part in "Ladies in Retirement." But she's heading into the final four because at least she's a good villain, with all the crying and duplicity and fakery.ĭarriene has lost her touch. There is no excuse for Alexis, who is a self-absorbed, derivative, clueless "technical" performer who has no persona, brilliance or creative perspective. She's not hissing and puffing and threatening to quit like others. Jessica shows how experience helps keep a person focused. But he's as close to an inspired performer as this season has. The huge inflatable breasts are too repetitive. Jimbo is a great clown who doesn't always connect the narrative pieces together. Kandy has a personality and is popular with other queens. There is no such thing as a spontaneous moment or legitimate interaction in the workroom or on the runway. But they all have assigned "personalities" now. (Until they inserted Monet being a co-winner by voice over in the final episode) Only All Stars Two is better. There was not one wrong or questionable choice in who won each challenge or lip sync. Entertaining as fuck and most of them really talented. But what makes it most enjoyable - is that they were all being themselves. The challenges, performances and the runways were so superior. Stellar season - even with the fuckery that Naomi kicked Manila off and Trinity didn't get her deserved SOLO win. Manila, Trinity the Tuck, Naomi Smalls, Monet, Latrice, Gia Gunn, Monique Hart, Farrah Moan and Valentina. It was touching to see him receive positive critiques on the mainstage for probably the first time in his +/- 7 years in the RPDR universe. Jaymes is a little freak, I'm always weirded out by queens who put on a voice and persona in drag and are completely different out of drag, but if he plays his cards right he'll go far in this competition. Sticks out like a sore thumb standing on stage with the rest of the queens, looking like she just stepped out of a time machine from 2015. Feel awful for Naysha Lopez, she really thought this was her redemption but you could see it in her eyes how quickly she realized she was out of her element. Biggest surprise is Kasha Davis, it's easy to see how her drinking dimmed her light during her season, I *get* her schtick now that she's sober. Loved Jimbo on his first season in Canada until overexposure set in, but I'm liking him here, if a little wary. Was never a fan of Kandy's, but find her surprisingly likable this season (let's see if that lasts). Did not have high expectations going in but am thoroughly enjoying myself so far. ![]() On pure entertainment factor alone, this is the best season of Drag Race in a number of years. People may dislike Alexis, but Alexis is talented. Kasha Davis should thank her swollen ankles they let her 1960's backwater bar queen in the door. Never as much talent or uniqueness as we remember. ![]() They return with more expensive but ugly drag and the same charm. I expect La La, Alexis and hopefully James Mansfield to make it to the finale with the grotesque and unfathomable Kandy. Why not? That's some beautiful hi energy body chocolate. He's past 50 now and nothing can hide his lack of energy and loose skin.Īlexis Michelle looks great. His I Dream of Jeannie number was a showstopper when he was 350 lbs, for real. It's not for you.ĭarienne is not long for the game - which is too bad because she is a great lip sync queen and a naturally funny bitch. Pangina Heals is such a different presence. ![]() He's the queen that should be kept away from children and teen boys. I can't stand his thread lift smile and rubber suit. 15 seasons and 8 all star seasons and Jimbo really does manage to insult WOMEN. These up to the neck breast plates gotta STOP. ![]() I like the cast - especially James Mansfield, Jessica Wilde, Heidi, Alexis and La La Ri.īut it's more canned than ever.
